Good morning folks. Simon here.
Today, I will be reviewing the

The Asus Zenbook (AZB) has been listed in Amazon as well as Flipkart in India with price range of 80k to 1.10k.
The AZB comes with 14’’ screen
with Nano edge display. It has ultra slim bezels only by 2.5 mm. Thus, making
one of the ultrabooks. The screen to body ratio is 92%. The display is powered
by some software feature called Asus Splendid and Asus Tru2Life, which offers
high resolution contents like videos and pictures. The screen is FHD i.e.,
1920x1080 with 100% sRGB colour Gamit and has 178 deg wide view angle technology.
The ultrabook is supported by Intel’s
i5 8265U processor clocked from 1.6 GHz to 4.6 GHz and is supported by 8 Gigs of ram.
It also has nVidia MX150 graphics processor for better video handling. The laptop
comes with 512 PCIe SSD for fast boot up and app launches. It comes with 50 Wh Li-Po
battery, which Asus claims battery up to 13 hours.
The keyboard is back-lit, and the entire laptop raised up when the screen is opened.

Review:
Screen:
The display is one of the good
features in the Asus laptops. It has good displays compared to the rival competitors.
It has 14’’ display with Nano edge screen. The bezels are too small, and the
display is amazing with tru2life and splendid software features. I rate 7/10.
Keyboard:
The best of this laptop is the
keyboard. It is full size chiclet style keyboard with tactile functionality. It
has back lit option. It has all the keys in the small platform. I am still amazed
that spacing between keys are amazing. Since it doesn’t involve in any typo I
just give 9/10 for this option. One less for the missing numpad. Though numpad
is added as a soft touch over the track pad, it doesn’t really work. I find it
as a mere gimmick at this level.
GPU:
This laptop does not have the
perfect GPU however, it has MX150 from Nvidia GeForce. It is a starter GPU for small
gaming and photoshop apps. U really can’t rely on the MX150 for higher FPS
games. I rate 6/10 for this feature.
3D IR scanner:
The laptop is equipped with a
security scanner. It is a facial recognition biometric that works with IR system. I rate 8/10 for this feature.
Cooling system:
The laptop has a cooling system
with one fan attached to both the processor and the GPU. This makes the cooling
inefficient. Hence, the Asus has come up with a new answer by lifting the
laptop by few millimeters. When you open the laptop screen, it will lift the
laptop by 3 deg angle thus allowing it to cool down more effectively.I rate 6/10 for cooling system but 8/10 for the new technology.
Windows:
The laptop comes with pre-installed
Windows 10 home single language edition. It can be activated for life time.
Camera:
The camera in this laptop is not
so good feature to talk about. It doesn’t record or recognise the image
properly and poor vision makes it worse. I give 2/10 for the camera. If you’re
a skype user, I recommend you use an external camera.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology:
The laptop comes with new Wi-Fi
technology, that offers high bandwidth speed and connects to the remote signal
easily. It also comes with the BLE 5.0 which enables the device to use low
battery power and work charm. I rate 8/10 for this feature.
Battery:
Though the company boasts that it
can offer 13 hours of the battery life, I didn’t get it for at least 10 hrs. I used
the laptop with Ethernet and as well as Wi-Fi for few hours with basic internet
browsing and some editing with text editor like MS Word and got it about 6
hours average. I believe that 13 hours is only in the ideal conditions like a/c
room, airplane mode and with battery saver turned on. I rate 7/10 for the battery.
Track pad:
The track-pad is only of the good
features in this laptop. It works good with windows precision drivers. The track-pad
also features numpad on it. All you must do is to just press and hold the
button on the top right corner of the track-pad for a second. It will light up
the numbers and it can be used for typing the digits. Just press it for another
second to turn it off. I rate 8/10 for this feature.
Ports:
On the left side it has one DC-In
port, a HDMI port, a USB 3.0 port and a USB 3.1 type – C port. On the right,
one can find a SD Card reader, a USB 2.0 port and AUX in cable with two led
indicators.
Bloatware:
The laptop comes with few bloatware,
Asus manager (MyAsus), Asus Gift Box and Asus Keyboard Hotkeys.
What’s in the box:
The box contains a Laptop, AC
Adapter, a Sleeve, USB3.0 to RJ45 cable and user manual.
After using it for a while, I can
really say that the device is light and portable. I carry it daily to my work
and it gives me an average battery life of 5 hours. It has become a daily
driver for me. I type a lot using this laptop and this laptop is amazing for
this. I use this for light browsing and most part for typing. The keyboard is
backlit and has 3 levels for brightness. The ROM comes with 512 GB SSD, PCIe
support. The laptop boots up fast but not as fast as NVMe or other desktop
performers. But it does the work. The IR scanner works well. It has not let me
down quite often. The i5 processor tries to take up all the task easily but if
you’re testing it for high load apps, it might struggle a lot. I often saw the
laptop getting too hot sometimes while updating/working/photoshopping/video
editing/high quality video editing. The trackpad often heats up also with the
high load application driving the processor. The RAM management isn’t good
because it has 8 GB LPDDR3. I wish I could have gotten DDR4 instead. The laptop
comes with Asus Sonic Master Audio system with surround smart. The speakers are
backed up by Harmon/Kardon. The fan is quiet until the processor heats up, so
one can say that it is a quiet fan while simple usage. The laptop comes with 2 colours,
namely, the royal blue and icicle white. And lastly, the laptop weighs just 1.19
kilograms only.
Overall, I rate 8/10 for the laptop.
Overall, I rate 8/10 for the laptop.
My two cents:
If you’re a traveler and need a
device that is light weight, then this is the laptop. This laptop is not a
power house but can justify your photo-shops and light video editing. This costs
from 1250$ to 1700$. If you need a lighter laptop, you can either choose Microsoft
Surface Book or LG Gram.
Happy reading. Thanks for visiting.
Take care.
With Peace, Love and Respects.
